To inaugurate the new location in Paris near the Palais-Royal, Peter Freeman, Inc. will present En travaux, a group exhibition of 33 represented artists and estates that will run concurrently with the 2024 edition of Art Basel Paris.
Included are Robert Filliou and Matt Mullican in which Paris is a central focus, as well as new works from French gallery artists Dove Allouche and Anne-Marie Schneider. Works by David Adamo, Silvia Bächli, Elisabetta Benassi, Ernst Caramelle, Jan Dibbets, Fernanda Gomes, Josephine Halvorson, Alex Hay, Charles LeDray, Hendl Helen Mirra, Rosalind Nashashibi, Roman Ondak, Charlotte Posenenske, Thomas Schütte, Lucy Skaer, Fiona Tan, and Richard Wentworth. Historic works by Slavic gallery artists Julije Knifer, Július Koller, Mangelos, Mladen Stilinović, and Goran Trbuljak will also be on view. Other important historic works include a rare bronze bust by the Italian Modernist sculptor Medardo Rosso, as well as a series of photographs by Anna and Bernhard Blume, a Measurement painting by Mel Bochner, and drawings by Robert Moskowitz and Franz Erhard Walther.
There will be a special presentation of Dan Flavin sculptures in the lower level of the gallery, bringing together three historic works all in only red fluorescent light: the only two works Flavin dedicated to the celebrated Russian Futurist writer Vladimir Mayakovsky (1893–1930) will be exhibited together for the first time in over 20 years, installed alongside his first ever arrangement of four fluorescent tubes, Four Red Horizontals (to Sonja) (1963).
